Touring bicycle is the best choice for the young and economy-minded people. The touring bicycle is a vehicle specially designed for touring from place to place on bike carrying change of clothes, food etc, as the name suggests to the touring bicycle. These touring bikes different from other bicycles with the ability to carry gear on racks mounted to the front and rear of the bicycle frame. The basic difference from other bicycle is that it has a large wheel base for carrying more weight, mudguard mounting points, triple water bottle mounts and a frameset which allows for the wider tires.

There are mainly three types of touring bicycles are available today such as road or trail, recumbent and tandem. One should purchase according to an individual's requirements as each of these bikes has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Road tourers are usually has around 700C wheels which are the same diameter as a racing bicycle but normally it has wider rims and better frame clearance for wider tires. That is why it is called as the classic touring bike. In recent past years prior to the 1980s most manufacturers have gave a shape to the wheels in 700C or modified the 26" mountain bike tires for better resistance and greater strength. This step has been attempted by the Thorn Cycles of England intended for off-road or on-road use. It has been claimed that it has the slightly smaller wheel include additional strength, worldwide tire availability, lighter weight and lower rolling resistance.

Recumbent touring cycle are very different in look that the rider sits in a seat that's lie back to some degree. More over in these cycles the rider's legs are in front of the seat. Steering is positioned above or below the seat level.

Tandems touring cycles are the bikes built especially for two riders. So this cycle gets very popular among couples who want to cover long distances economically. In fact these touring cycles can't carry any extra weight and the riders often have to hitch a trailer. This limitation can be overcome by pulling a trailer.

If you want to go for a cycle touring you may want to have a bike which can carry some gear. The modern touring bikes are usually equipped with front and rear luggage racks, road handlebars and saddles for long distance comfort. Typical characteristics of a touring bicycle are: rugged hubs, heavy-duty rims and 36-spoke wheels for additional stability, durability, reliability. Sometimes easy detachable trailers are towed behind for carrying gear, which is preferable since it provides a low center of gravity.

Typically touring bicycle frames have a long wheelbase and stable steering mechanism, with numerous attachment points for luggage racks, mudguards for keeping lights, water bottles etc. Even there are some cases where you can put your spare parts. Chain stays must be long enough to hold panniers without discomforting the rider's heels during pedaling.

However all the parts of the bike is made of sturdy and long lasting material which can easily performed in ascending and descending with a heavy loaded. These touring bicycles are usually equipped with cantilever brakes or lever-pulled brakes, instead of the caliper brakes used on racing bicycles. You can also found Disc brakes system in some newer touring bicycles for their excellent stopping power and improved performance in wet weather.

In conclude it can be said that the touring bicycles cooperate on speed but provide extra utility and ruggedness. With these all sort of features this cycle became popular among young and couple for its another feature of low budget.
